Katie is a Certified Executive Coach with over 25 years’ experience in leadership development, facilitation and consultation in mid to large size organizations. Katie’s background as a business leader, psychotherapist and consultant allows her to bring an unusual depth of insight, intuition and experience to her work with organizations. Katie specializes in challenging leaders to leverage their strengths while at the same time ensuring that they identify and address internal and external barriers to development. She coaches leaders in financial institutions, health care facilities, private consulting firms, universities, the Ontario Provincial Government as well as a variety of not-for-profit organizations.
An example of Katie’s recent accomplishments includes coaching an executive in the Financial Services sector with a focus on his leadership competencies. The results of this work were clear, measurable and visible to his team. Over an 18-month period, results from the organization’s annual survey showed more than a 25% rise in employee engagement as well as in over-all leadership and managerial competencies.
Katie was previously the Enterprise Director of Employee Engagement Initiatives, Employee Assistance Programs and Corporate Values for the Bank of Montreal. In this role, Katie developed enterprise processes to maximize employee engagement, contributed to the development of emotional intelligence competencies in leadership training, provided executive and leadership coaching focused on the Bank’s competency model and facilitated the de-briefing of a variety of 360 assessments. Katie received the highest Employee Engagement results in the organization’s Employee Survey and earned the bank’s HR award for Integrity.
Katie is designated a Certified Executive Coach by Royal Roads University, has completed the Systems and Organizations Training Program, and is a trained facilitator and administrator of the Team Coaching International Team Diagnostic Process, the Hogan suite of Leadership Assessment Inventories and the Barrett Values Culture Survey. Katie is also certified in the Leadership Circle 360 Diagnostic tools and workshops and has conducted hundreds of 360 assessments using the Leadership Circle. Katie provides consultation for other coaches around the use of the Leadership Circle 360. Katie earned a Masters degree in Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University focused on working with individuals, groups and organizations from a systemic perspective.
An active community member, Katie and has served on several national and international boards. She is the co-authour of “A Decade of Diversity: Advancing Women’s Career’s” and the authour of an article for the Vanier Institute for the Family on the impact of caregiving on the workplace. In her personal life, Katie makes time for skiing, canoeing and very amateur carpentry at her cottage which is “off the grid” on a wilderness lake.
